Should we drop to 2 naps? Nearly 6 months.

My baby is 6 months at the end of the month. He's usually struggles with the last nap, has done for as long as I can remember though. As soon as we see his tired cues, we pop him in his sleep sack, make sure he's fed and try to get him to sleep. Unless in the pushchair, it's a really struggle! Even in the pushchair it can be quite hard tbh! But yesterday he only fussed for 5 mins or so before going down for 30mins. That was a nap in the house (which we try not to do, but the weather has prevented us taking him out for it).
We're trying to adjust naps at the moment because night time has been awful. So trying to reduce daytime sleep to around 3 hours to see if that helps.
Would it be better to see if he could just do 2 1hour 30min naps in the day as opposed to a shorter morning nap and cat nap at the end of the day?
Please advise me, I'm one tired mama 😴

Edited to add: because he fought the last nap so hard today, he only managed a 5min contact nap before waking up crying again. So he's only done about 2hours 35mins. Making me very nervous for the night ahead, as this is quite a bit less than usual. 😓

None of ours had that many naps at that age and were sleeping well at night. Our twins only went for an hour or so in the afternoon. By 1 they weren't bothered with naps and still go to bed same time 6:30pm-7am now. Maybe baby is fussing because he actually doesn't want to sleep and may just want extra food or playtime

@Rayqueen Oh wow only an hour? My baby definitely needs more than that. He is tired for that last nap and definitely not hungry. But he just fights it quite a bit of the time. We brought bedtime forward last night and he did sleep longer overall. So I think we need to keep the nap. But maybe keep it quite short.
