10 month old naps like RUBBISH

From 4 months old, my son has only napped for 30 minutes at a time, sometimes less.
It’s like sleep regression started and then never ended.

Until 2 weeks ago, we randomly had 6 days in a row, of 1 hour to 1.5 hour naps, (just one a day, we usually only have 1 or 2 x 30 minute naps a day anyway).

I tried not to get too excited as I didn’t want to jinx it, but by day 5 I thought we had cracked it. I hadn’t changed anything. Same sleep environment, white noise, dark etc etc.

But then on day 7, BAM, back to 30 mins nap and has been for the last week.
How can he suddenly learn to connect sleep cycles and then just, forget?!?!

Has anyone else experienced this?!

At this point, there isn’t much I haven’t tried regarding wake windows etc. I’ve had 6 months of researching ways to get him to sleep longer.

Just to add, he falls asleep independently and usually quite well.
He also wakes several times during the night just crying in his sleep, but is easily settled.

TIA! X
