Feel like I’ve totally failed with my second baby

My first DS was a generally solid sleeper - pretty good naps and overnight sleep with the odd dodgy week here and there but generally good. My second DS is not great at all and I feel I have totally failed with him. He is 9 months and I cannot get a sense of regularity with him and I don’t know how to fix it. Any advice?! He naps for about 50 minutes in the morning but only in the pram (refuses the cot), then needs masses of resettling to get anywhere longer than 40 minutes at lunchtime in his cot. Then we end up with an overtired baby and I never know when to put him to bed or whether to give him an extra nap etc. Obviously he then wakes at 5am and I can’t get him back to sleep. Does anyone have any thoughts?! I was so good with routine etc with my first but just seems impossible to get my second into a rhythm as his sleep timings are so unpredictable. Tearing my hair out with it really and I feel really down as everyone else’s second babies seem easier than their firsts / seem to be able to nap!

Not really any advice but just wanted to say you haven't failed at all, you just have a different baby 😊 All children are different and it can be humbling when the first is quite easy. My second never napped as well as my first probably because they were being towed round after a toddler and naps were often in a carrier on the move. One of my close friends girls are the other way around, the first was (and still is) a terrible sleeper and the second sleeps like a dream even when being towed round after the toddler. Some baby's just dont sleep as well and its nothing you have done!!
