9mo gone down for first nap almost 1.5 hours earlier than usual - why?!

DS is on two naps a day and has been for a while. He’s nine months old.

His first wake window is generally a bit over three hours, so he was due his first nap around 11:10am.

He’s just fallen asleep on me at 09:55! So not even two hours awake.

I’m curious as to why? Might he be having a random three nap day?

(This is really going to mess up our plans 😂 and I am trapped with no food or drink!)

It’s not uncommon for babies to change up their own routines. Could be teething, could be the heat, could be a busier than usual morning. With my first DC I would over analyse all the sleep wake windows / feeding etc. Now on my second I just go with the flow and let DC nap when he wants and generally just respond to his cues. I’ve had a pretty easy ride with him which I didn’t with DC1.

Maybe he’s tired?

Probably learning a new milestone, if not physically then mentally which might be tiring him out. Quite common for kids to change their nap times.

Are you somewhere hot right now? Could be that.

We’re in the north west, it was almost unbearable heat wise yesterday but is mild/fine today.

It’s just so unusual - he often stays awake past his expected nap time but I have never ever known him to fall asleep so much earlier like this!

Maybe he's coming down with something

Or didn't sleep as well yesterday because of the heat

Perhaps he snuck out last night after you put him to bed and has been baby raving all night.

I mean.... Sometimes I feel tired for no reason on a day where I've been busy or not busy, slept well or not? Could be anything!
