My Ds2 Harry is wonderful. Except, he is 10 months old and wakes every morning between 05.00 and 05.30. I used to go in and give him a bottle which he now expects so last week tried controlled crying. We are on day 5 and getting nowhere fast. If I give him a bottle he sleeps till 7 but if not he whinges on and off until I go in. Sometimes a pooh wakes him, othertimes no pooh. Blackout blinds installed. It is a just a habit he has got into. Any tips ? Please ?

Is he waking because he is hungry? I had an early waker and used to give him cereal before bed time i.e between dinner and bed. He used to have a full weetabix mashed with milk and half a banana - cereal is good because it takes a long time to digest - the health visitor suggested it and it ensured he woke about an hour later - might not work but you could try it.

Ooo I might try that suggestion myself! My DS is 12 months and for the last 6 weeks has also been waking somewhere between 5 and 5.30am. He usually chats to himself and has a whinge and then eventually goes back to sleep at about 6.30 - just when it is time to get up for work! DS has his tea qute late anyway at 5pm, but might bring ti forward and then try the cearal idea, it has to be worth a try! He is never screaming for food when he wakes, but wolfs his breakfast straight away when we get him up so maybe he is hungry.

Well, I think he might be hungry because when he gets the bottle ( those days that I cant bear the controlled crying !) he then sleeps till 7 which would indicate that he was hungry.I think I will try the weetabix and banana. I did try porridge at bedtime once but no difference sadly.
