7 month old suddenly not sleeping

My little girl has always been a really good sleeper. She has slept through the night 7-7 from 12 weeks (with the help of a dream feed). Over the past month her night time sleeping has become really unsettled. She wakes several times in the night and it almost feels like we are back to the newborn stage. She still has around 2-3 hours sleep in the day which has remained the same. I don't think she is teething yet, but she did have a cold about a month ago (around the same time as the start of the bad sleeping). The cold has gone (a couple of weeks ago) but the sleeping has not returned to normal. The only thing that soothes her is me picking her up for a cuddle. I have also introduced solids - but I would assume this would help her sleep more and not less? I wouldn't normally worry about getting up several times in the night, but I am returning to work full time in 2 weeks and really thought I had the sleep sorted! Any help or suggestions as to why this may be happening would be appreciated.

my ds woke at this stage also he was teething and she could be getting teething pains with no teeth visable as moving around in gums at the right age

found rubbing bonjela on gums worked and not picking up just soothing voice sshhh sleep time feeding or popping in dummy to soothe thn leaving room

could she be getting too hot at night as weather has been muggy of an evening
sorry i know not much help but tends to all be trial and error until there talking

good luck

Many thanks for your reply. I thought initially it was her cold keeping her awake and then the hot weather came and I thought that also didn't help as her room got really hot.

As per your suggestion I rubbed bonjela on her teeth this evening and so far so good. She has been waking after about an hour or two after she has gone to sleep (at 7) for the past month but so far she has not woken up yet and it is nearly midnight! It could amybe just be her teeth. I know it could be lots of things but it is hard going back to no sleep when you have got used to sleeping again!

Anyway, so far so good this evening. Lets hope it lasts all night.

i hope she slept ok for you my ds also got used to the fact i would go in and pick him up so it was really milatary operation lol

bonjela checking nappy soothing sshhh running out oh and giving small amount of water as bonjela can make mouth very dry

Well bonjela seemed to do the trick. She slept all the way throught last night. I had forgotten how nice unbroken sleep is! I have given her more bonjela this evening so fingers crossed.

I just tried this as well on my 7.5mo and so far so good.

should i apply it in the night as well before or after he wakes?

bubblagirl · 18/05/2008 07:09

i used to do it when i went to bed so he didnt have to get uncomfortable enough to wake up

maybe see if he wakes with it first night if he does apply when sleeping the next night goood luck
