Only have a 2.5 tog grobag - DS is boiling!

Have ordered a 1.0 tog one but hasn't arrived yet and it's so hot.

Last night nursery thermometer read 25 so I put DS in a short sleeve vest and 2.5 tog grobag and opened his window. But think he was probably roasting... Has a cold too which can't help.

I know people must have coped before grobags - what did they do on a hot night last night?? What shall I do tonight?

How about if you open the grobag a little at the bottom for some extra air. Or you could do what I did when getting dd out of them, which was to put her to sleep in it, and then to take it off once she was asleep, replacing with a light cotton sheet.

dilbertina · 08/05/2008 08:29

can you not just use a sheet over him or light blanket? If he kicks it off it's so warm it doesn't matter. Alternatively, pyjamas and nothing else (or t/shirt and light trousers).

upsyandiggle · 08/05/2008 08:30

i left dd in vest and sleep suit and lost the gro bag last night. read the instructions on my 1 tog one and it was still too hot in her room for that.

I put DS in a babygro and covered him with a cellular blanket (I also only have a 2 and 2.5 tog grobags!) and he still seemed hot to me! He keeps kicking his cellular blanket off but that's ok as it's breathable...

EffiePerine · 08/05/2008 09:54

Pyjamas. Socks if you're worried about his feet getting hot. No need for covers if it's warm (DS just kicks them off anyway).

golly you must have coldblooded kids

dd is sleeping in just a vest atm

Shitemum · 08/05/2008 20:23

Put him in pyjamas in a pillow case

ChirpyGirl · 08/05/2008 20:26

DD2 is just in nappy and 1 tog grobag and still feels warm, DD1 was the same, it is 25 in their room with both top windows open.
DD1 is in short pj's and a duvet that gets kicked off in her sleep!

ds3 in his short pj's but has a fleece blanket at the bottom of his bed so if he gets cold he just pulls it up. ds4 im nappy and short pj's laying on his grobag as he doesn't sleep without it and ds5 in his nappy and vest and thats it. Too hot for anything else isn't it?

Liz79 · 08/05/2008 21:31

dd's room currently 22. She's wearing a babygro and 1 tog sleeping bag

Piffle · 08/05/2008 21:34

ds2 has a fan in his room. Weats long sleeve vest and 2.5 bag. Room says 22 and he is just right.

Piffle · 08/05/2008 21:36

ps we need the fan for white noise but tonight its pointed at him!
he frets in short sleeves grr

phraedd · 10/05/2008 08:02

the twins that i am night nannying for are just in a vest for bed as their room is about 26 degrees which is too warm even for their 1 tog grobags.

They still sleep beautifully
