6mth old and toys in the cot

I keep hearing about how babies will 'play in their cot' in the morning when they've woken up. Do you do this? If so what kind of toys? Are they in the cot all the time? Just wondering as I'm worried that the toys would keep DS awake rather then let him sleep...

We got DS one of those cot bumper kick n play toys when he was tiny. He used to wake up, play a bit and then go back to sleep

We've actually got one of those somewhere - the fisher price piano type thing. I must dig it out

My 7 month old has a squeaky cat, a monkey, two bunnies and a rattle. He chats away to them when he wakes up.

My 16 week old has three little toys that are full of that rustly paper and they live at the top end of her cot. She wriggles herself round (no mean feat in a grobag!) and drives us mad scrunching them in the morning. She doesn't touch them at night though but she is a good bit younger.
