My almost 3 year old (feb) has stopped sleeping through the night the last few weeks. She no longer naps in the day and wakes around 7am, ive been doing bedtime between 6 and 6.30pm - she wakes between 10.30-11.30pm and often plays in her cot for up to 2 hours til she falls back to sleep, we dont go in to her as shes not distressed. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Perhaps needs a later bedtime, aiming for over 12 hours of sleep is pretty hopeful, some her age would only need 10 hours sleep, maybe try a 7 - 7 30 bedtime?

NHS say 10 - 13 hours at that age, depending upon the child. Maybe her sleep needs have dropped.

If she's eventually falling back to sleep with no support from you, I don't think you have a problem.

It sounds as if she has the sleeping habits people used to have a few hundred years ago, when they retired at nightfall, then woke for a couple of hours in the darkness, had something to eat, used the chamber pot, then slept again til dawn.

It can take a couple of weeks for schedule changes to take effect. Hope things improve for you.
