2 year old sleep getting worse and waking every hour

My DS 2 wasn't a good sleeper as a baby after the 4 month regression but after he stopped BF at 14 months which coincided with starting nursery he become a lot better and was sleeping through a few nights a week up until two months ago.

We had a family emergency so had to move in with my parents for a few weeks and go back to sharing a room which resulted in him coming into our bed every night. Back to normal sleeping arrangements for over six weeks but since then he has been waking regularly and needs one of us there. Tonight it has been literally every hour and it's no longer enough to sleep next to us, he wants to be on us. I am 7 months pregnant so it's hard enough to get comfy! We have had no more than 2 hours consecutive sleep for 6 weeks and are utterly exhausted. Also can't be good for him.
He also used to be perfectly happy with either one of us but now tantrums if DH goes in (but is perfectly happy for him to do bedtime).
No idea where to start fixing it or if it's temporary. I want to give him the comfort he needs but also conscious that I will be BF a newborn in a few months and dont want him to feel the impact when baby is here.

Anyone been through this at 2 and find anything which helped?

I have no advice but I'm watching for some as I'm going through it right now with my todder - hence why I'm awake at this hour!

Sorry to hear that! It's dire. I find I'm so worked up I don't get a chance to sleep between wakeups even

Are you back in your own home and is the problem all resolved?

Yes we have been back in our own home for actually thinking about it nearer 8 weeks
