Drop the morning nap??? DD is 12 months...

Should I drop my daughter's 12 month nap? She used to sleep from 830930, then 1230-230 ish. Now she stays awake in her cot, chatting and messing around.

If I leave her alone, she drops off late, around 930, then is in a deep sleep around 1015 when I wake her, as if she's taking her long nap early. She then always takes a short lunchtime nap (1hr tops).

Should I drop the morning nap and hope she has a long lunchtime one to make up? Is she too young?????? Feels like she's telling me she's not tired now at 9am............help!

Not sure - but will watch with interest.. DD is 12 months and also showing signs of not wanting 2 naps. I've started pushing out the morning nap and sometimes she'll have that as a long nap (wake just in time for lunch) and then won't have another one.

Ds dropped the afternoon nap and kept his morning one. That was about 14mths I think. I just pushed the morning nap later until he was going down after 10 and sometimes now, about 11am.

Now 2.4 and still has 1-2 hours in the morning, in addition to 11-12 at night.

Your daughter naps for 12 months?! [impressed]

This is interesting. DD (10 months) had a couple of days of dropping the morning nap, then brought it back and now seems to have started having a third late afternoon nap which she hasn't done for a good two months? Been wondering when they generally go down to one a day...

well - read a few bits from books yesterday from the library and they all said that between 12-18 months they drop the morning nap (keeping the long lunchtime one).

having said all that, just put her down as she was up from 6 so I thought she'd be tired. yesterday she was asleep until 710am so made it through the morning without sleep, although her little eyes were drooping at lunch (cute!)

maybe we have to play it by ear at this age???? those books did say there's an awkward time when they don't need two naps but can't quite manage on one.

but when did babies ever fir in with the books?!
