my ds was about 5 weeks when he moved from his moses basket into his cot and to a sleeping bag at the same time. he hated having his arms inside the swaddling anyway though.

ds was over 6 months. It was only that he could flip himself from his back to his front even whilst swaddled that made me make the transition.

dd was only about 4 months but she never really needed swaddling as much.

Dd2 about 8 weeks I think.
DD1 waved her arms about so much it was later - can't remember when, but when she was strong enough to fight her way out.

DS2 about 8 or 10 weeks i think when he got too long for this swaddles (v long chap ).

I half swaddled him for about a week (under the arms but torso and legs still snug) to try and aid the transition. Maybe try that.

My DS was about 6.5 months, he just loved being swaddled and everytime we tried to move him to sleepbag he hated it and was only happy when we swaddled him again, then suddenly one day he didn't want to be swaddled and has slept in a grobag ever since

I thought you were only supposed to do it for about a month

Mine were only swaddled for a couple of weeks at most

I think you can swaddle them as long as you want to. My dd who is 8 months waves her arms around like mad when shes tired and often needs a light swaddle (just a blanket wrapped firmly round her arms) to calm her down enough to even think about sleep! She then wriggles her arms out of it when shes asleep.
My ds was swaddled until he was about 3 months I think.
