... why??? She has always settled herself to sleep, sucking her thumb. It used to be every now and then she'd wake up like this but she's done it the last 2 nights.

She cries and cries, I go in, she stops immediately and starts babbling away trying to grab things. With DD1 I used to be able to soothe her quietly and she'd go back to sleep or she'd cry for a few minutes then sleep. Not DD2. With her, she's just not interested. I put her back in her cot, say night night and she just screams. I've left her and eventually she'll go to sleep but this might be an hour or more.

What does work is flicking on the lights, changing her nappy, letting her look at a couple of books, basically breaking the cycle of her crying and me saying it's time for sleep. She'll then go off ok. But this might take an hour by the time she's grizzled for a bit, cried, I've gone in, out again, she's screamed, I've gone in again and done the lights on routine.

I want my sleep!! What am I doing wrong??

Sorry meant to say she is still having an afternoon nap. On Sunday she had nearly 2.5 hours and was up at 4am. But yesterday she only had an hour and was up at 1am.

And she definitely still needs an afternoon nap.
