Has anyone transferred a 16mo or younger from cot to bed?

I'm wondering whether to transfer DS from his cot to a bed full time - there's another thread of mine saying he won't sleep now he's in his new room. The only way I can get him to sleep is if I lay with him for 1/2hr or so and then creep out. I'm just wondering if it's a better idea to dismantle the cot and transfer him to a bed full time?

Has anyone else made the transfer so early? He sleeps in the bed fine as it's got rails the whole way round, and sleeps in a bed at my parents anyway.

Any thoughts would be welcome.
