12 month old wakes at 4am

Every night now for weeks DS has gone to sleep at around 7pm, woken at 4am and been awake from then until 8am, before getting tired and needing a nap from 8 until 9/10.

Every time he wakes up he cries and wakes our 4 year old then both of them aware awake and wanting to come downstairs.

Anyone else’s child doing this? Any advice? It’s torture.

He has 2 naps a day of about an hour each, we always make sure he’s up by 2pm at the latest. He eats well, isn’t hungry when he wakes and has a relaxing bedtime routine - bath every other day or quiet play, stories, cuddles, final drink then put down in his sleeping bag. After a few minutes of grumbling he drops off.

My 13 month is doing the same and now refusing second nap. I've just been reading that this could indicate they may need to transition to one nap.. I feel, personally it's too early but may give it a go from tomorrow

My 12 month old's second nap is much later than 2pm and at the moment sleeps quite well. Bedtime is creeping a bit later atm but with clocks about to go back I'm not too worried about that.

I'd personally try and push that first nap as late as possible, then the second nap start at 2pm ending no later than 4pm.

I meant earlier with morning not bedtime - 5.55 this morning (sibling related). So soon to be 6.55 which is almost at my idea of acceptable wake up (7am).
