DS 5.5 months sleeping on his tummy - any dangers?

Hello

Now that DS has practised rolling over at will for the last few weeks, he's started sleeping on his side or tummy. We've tried rolling him back onto his back, but he just wakes up, gives us a dirty look and rolls onto his side again.

Are there any dangers at this age? There's not a lot we can do about it, short of restraining him.

Thanks

My DD did this at 6.5mo and the HV said it was fine ; once they have the muscle control to roll onto their tummies, they will have the control to move their face to breathe, so the theory goes. Short of staying up by his bedside all night, there isn't a lot you can do.

I've recently started putting DD down like this as it makes for a much more peaceful bedtime.

My DS has slept on his tummy since he was 4 months old! I know its not recommended but in the end out of sheer desparation we put him to sleep on his tummy because this was the only position he appeared compfrtable in (he has severe reflux) and he was fine, he has slept like that ever since (now nearly 11 months). our health vis was a bit funny about it but when you look into the research about sleeping on their fronts it really isn't a big deal past 4 months or so when they have the muscle control to move their own head.

Don't worry about it, you will have a more peaceful night as a result if thats how he wants to sleep! It took us a while to stop worrying about it but we did stop worrying in the end!

Thanks guys. That's more or less what I thought, but it's nice to have your experience too. Sweet dreams!
