11 week old baby struggles with naps

Hi guys, I am a first time mum and my baby is 11 weeks old.
He really struggles to get settled for a nap ( he will only sleep if I rock him)
I monitor his wake window and after an hour of being awake he starts to yawn so I will then take him into my arms and start to rock him which results in him crying/screaming for at least 10 minutes until he realises he is tired and then drifts off.
Is this normal? I feel like I am doing something wrong and I could do better but I don't know.

Hey! I wouldn’t say you’re doing anything ‘wrong’ - sounds like you are just trying your best to meet your baby’s needs!
With regards to the crying - sometimes my DD can cry a little as she’s going to sleep. It’s not screaming though. I think it’s more that she wants to sleep and she’s a bit miffed she’s not asleep yet. If it’s screaming I’d be tempted to say he’s overtired and maybe try and get him down earlier? Or try a different method of getting to sleep - I think a sling can be great for this as they often feel so close and snuggly with you (of course there are some that hate it though!).
Also how long as this been going on for? I remember my DD getting a bit fussy around the 3/4 month mark. It’s just transition from the fourth trimester into the big wide world. They get past it.
Hope things get better for you!
