Baby waking, wanting to play then getting upset

Hi everyone

Just wanting some advice, sometimes my baby sleeps great and sleeps through night (9 months). Even when she wakes, 40 percent of the time she can get herself back to sleep.

The problem is when she wakes herself up fully, she just wants to start crawling around and playing in her cot. I leave her to it as she's not crying but then after about 30 minutes she must get over tired and starts shouting, the longer I leave her the more upset she gets and the harder she is to settle again.

At this point I go into her room, if I just try to rub her back and shush her back to sleep, she stays upset and keeps moving. The only way I can get her back to sleep is cuddling her. But then when I put her back into her cot, she wakes up and it all starts again.

Any advice would be helpful
