Getting 6mo DD used to travel cot before going away

Did you try to get your LO used to sleeping in a travel cot prior to a trip? We've got her accustomed to lying and playing in it (downstairs) but when I tried to get her to nap in it today in her room she freaked out. Do you think I should persist? Or just assume that out of desperation she'll sleep in it once we're away?

you might have to do a bit of pick up put down to reassure her
Maybe not a good idea to put it downstairs and let her play in it though - she needs to know it's for sleep
My nephew wouldn't sleep in his and I wasn't surprised because when they were at home he spent a lot of time in it with a loads of soft balls!!
