ds1 and ds2 share a room.ds1 has always been fairly bad sleeper and also needs lamp or door open-hes very hard to get into bed.hes almost 7 btw.its only the going to bed that hes not good at.
ds2 is 2 and goes to bed well providing its dark so no light and door needs to be shut..

we were doing it that ds2 goes to bed at his bedtime 6.30 with lights off then when ds1 went to bed at 7.30 i put his lamp on but this was disturbing ds2!(i switched it off after ds1 was asleep)then if(or when i should say!)ds2 woke in the night hed disturb ds1!
so ds1 has been sleeping with dd whos nearly 8.she doesnt mind but i really need to sort it before she does start minding plus it seems silly he has a bed in his room but is sharing a bed with dd(who also would prefer the light off but has it on for ds1)
ds1 is very hard work day and night but i hope by sorting out the bedtime itll get easier with the rest of the day!

try one of these. you charge it in the day, then he can have it with him, under the covers to go to bed. its safe, cool to touch, will go out by itself when charge disappers, the coloured light is less bright and if its under his covers he has light and safety-feeling, but it neednt disturb others in the room.

alternatively, theres this one which will go out sooner (i think it stays lit for about 10 minutes after pressing the button), the little stars are fun/comforting but not so bright they'll disturb others. and the 'amber' colour is least bright of all, so you can maybe 'wean' him off needing light. byt he time the light goes out he should be asleep. job done.

The IKEA thing is pretty bright, really. We have it in DS's room as a nightlight on the side and it illuminates the whole room quite happily (not incredibly brightly, but pretty well), so under the covers it should be bright enough for him.

cheesesarnie · 17/03/2008 10:20

just realised they dont deliver.

You can get in green or red as well as in blue (slightly different shapes but the same idea).

BoysOnToast · 17/03/2008 10:27

if you cant reach an ikea easily, is there someone nearer one you can ask? if not in rl, im sure an obliging mner could pick one up next time theyre there and you could paypal them the cost and postage. start a thread.

sleepycat, thats so lovely

BoysOnToast · 17/03/2008 10:28
