DS not settling after night feeds - awake all night!!

My DS is 9wo, is bf and will not settle at night despite being fed.

He goes to bed at 7pm after a marathon feeding session, gets a dreamfeed of 6oz at 10.30 and then will generally wake up at either 2am or 3am for another feed. This is fine, but he won't settle in his cot after this. The only way he can be settled is if my DH takes him out of the room - great for me as I can get some sleep, but not great for DH as he has to catch up later. He will then be brought back to me later for another feed and the same thing happens again. Either me or my DH will be awake from the first feed until morning.

Any ideas? We have tried ignoring him to see if he will settle himself but he just cries and cries and it gets us nowhere. I'm concerned that taking him out of his cot to settle him is setting a precedent and that it will always be like this. My DH works night shifts some of the time and this is a concern as, without his help I will be up all night.

Would you consider co-sleeping? You do get an awful lot more sleep this way!

it will settle down in a few weeks. it is so hard but he is v v little still. just try to get through it as best you can. there isnt really too much you can do. are you sure you are winding him properly? i was sure i was with dd1 then i realised that i just wasnt at all! it could well be wind.

I have tried co-sleeping but he just whinges on and off, feeds on and off, dozes in-between and neither of us get any sleep. It's as though he just thinks it's time to get up already!
