9 month old has never slept through!

My little boy has just turned 9 months. He’s perfectly happy and healthy but he still wakes at least twice in the night. It feels so lonely when everyone else’s little ones are sleeping through. It’s always been “wait until he’s no longer a new born”, “wait until the 4 month sleep regression passes”, “wait until he starts solids” but here we are. I go back to work in 2 months to a pretty full on, full time job and I’m so worried about sleep! Anyone else in the same boat, or been in the same boat?

Currently in the first of several night wakings for my teething 18 month old. Buckle up op.

You can just never tell OP. I’d say a 9 month old sleeping through is extremely unusual, I count myself lucky that at about 16m my clingy co-sleeper suddenly decided to sleep for 13 hours in her room on a fairly regular basis.

I recommend Sarah Ockwell-Smith’s “the gentle sleep book”. It has a bit about sleep training techniques, but also a lot of evidence-based info about normal sleep patterns that’s a really useful antidote to the “my little jimmy slept through from 12 weeks” stories that seem to be everywhere.

Thank you so much everyone! Nice to have a bit of solidarity and to hear I’m not alone. Sometimes you just need to know you aren’t the only one going through it.

20 months here and I’m on the first of my nightly wakes, there’ll be at least one more. I’ve been back to work for 7 months now.

My first started sleeping through the night recently and he's nearly 3. I class sleeping through the night as no wake ups before 5am to be honest.

My second is nearly 18 months and still wakes up multiple times. Co sleeping is what has got me through!

9 years for DD1! No one in my family is a good sleeper though so I'm guessing there are genetic factors at play.
