How do I get my DS (4.7) to sleep in his own bed all night?

My DS who is 4 has got into the habit of coming into our bed between 1 and 3 am.He just falls back to sleep there but it is tiring for my DH and me as it disturbs the night.Has anyone successfully got their child out of a routine like this and how?

Keep putting him back in his own bed. The moment he tries to get in. Don't ever budge on this ( though be calm and reassuring about it).
Do a star chart for every night he doesn't get up.
End of the week he gets a toy or other reward.

Thanks for replying. We have tried the reward thing before but it's incredibly hard to keep your resolve when we both work. I know that it is the only answer for long term sleep deprivation though. I think I will try a shiny new sticker chart again.

Can you take a week off work to crack it? Might be worth it in the long run. And you can have a break too?
