DD is going to sleep at 8:30pm atm with nap time 12-1pm

Wondering if this is getting too late and the nap needs to go, when do yours sleep?

Since 6m we’ve done bath at 6pm, story and milk at 6:30pm then asleep for 7pm to 6:30pm. My daughter is 4 and has just dropped her nap but her nap was always 12:30-2pm.

We dropped it to one hour just after she turned 3 as she was waking earlier but the rest of the routine stayed the same.

Mine didn’t nap by 2.5 and went to sleep at 7pm for anything between 11.5 and 13 hours. 8:30 isn’t too late though if having the nap suits you and your DC and their morning start is tolerable.

About 7pm, but no nap.
On the very rare occasion she drops off in the day, she struggles to sleep until later - sometimes approaching 9pm I would say.

If it works for you and your kid then stick with it. Mine is older (3.5) but we have always done a bedtime later than 'average' as we have older kids and it means we can have a family dinner with all of us
He still naps when with me (he gave it up at nursery) and he wakes up cheery in the morning, bonus being that he will sometimes sleep later in the morning as well. That wouldn't have worked with my eldest who resisted napping and woke at crack of dawn whenever he went to sleep, so he had to be in bed fairly early or he would be miserable the next day.
Which is all to say trust yourself to work out what suits your child and family

8.30/9, works for us!

RedRobyn2021 · 10/09/2023 21:10

Sorry should have said wake up is 6:30/7 and she now sleeps through (most of the time)

I guess I worry that if I take the nap away she'll struggle

Or maybe I'm worried I'll struggle, I love that break in the middle of the day, especially lately as she seems particularly difficult

Bedtime is 7.30/8pm - 6.30/7am with an hour nap around 12ish

Gingeranimals · 10/09/2023 21:23

My 2.5 year old still has a nap of 1-2 hours during the day. We start bedtime at 7.30pm but she won't go to sleep until 8.30 - 8.45 and then sleeps until 7am. I love the nap so in no rush to get rid of it!

Abfab63 · 10/09/2023 21:41

7pm - nap for 45 mins. Sometimes goes without but it doesn't make a difference to the 6.30am wake up.
