Bedtime with 10month old and 6yr old nightmare

Need advice,
10month old started fighting bedtime……think he needs to drop a nap!
we’ve tried early bedtime with 2 naps, later bedtime with 3 naps and all have same issues
then 6 year old is now crying and not wanting to be left after lights out 🙈🙈
need a new bedtime that works for bed to stop all the tears and stress!

My 6YO showers herself and gets ready for bed whilst her little brother is in the bath. She then gets an episode of whatever she likes on TV whilst he’s put to bed then once he’s asleep she goes up to bed and we read her a story. This is contingent on her going to bed nicely. If she does not then no TV time tomorrow and instead she’ll be going to bed at the same time as the little one. Also I don’t enforce lights out. If she wants to read or play quietly in her room with the lamp on then she’s welcome to do so and she puts herself to bed when tired, usually about 8.

Thanks, have mum guilt leaving bigger one to watch her iPad and amuse herself while little one is fed and bedded!
i thought about combining some of the routine like pjs and teeth etc, then bigger one watching iPad/supper as I put little one to bed!
then she likes her story and chat when lights go out! Just hard to do when little one is creating in the next room 🙈

I don’t see why you’d feel guilty for letting her watch a bit of TV before bed, she still gets her story afterwards. Besides it’s what most adults do of an evening and I’m presuming she gets lots of attention during the day! It’s not easy with 2 so cut yourself some slack. Personally I avoid the ipad at bed time as she can get ragey about coming off it and the blue light isn’t ideal before bed, but you know your DD best and maybe it isn’t an issue for you guys!
