DD almost 24mths has nasty bug with a very blocked nose , cough and has had some very restless nights. She has had a few naps vertical in arms but at night she wants to go in her cot. We have raised the legs of the cot on phone directories and she has a little baby pillow ( the ones with holes in) with Karvol drops on the pillow. Has anybody any more suggestions please.....Poor thing she gets in such a state Thanks in advance

Oh that sounds terrible - have just come out of 3 weeks of my 2 dds having awful colds. As we have a shower cabinet (as opposed to a shower over the bath IYSWIM), they had warm steamy showers before bedtime to try and clear their noses a bit.

I thought pillows were fine after a year? I did the same at two as I do now - their normal pillow, plus one of those L shaped nursing pillows, pushed together so it makes a sort of nest so the DC can sleep pretty much propped up. Tixylix or Medised are pretty good for unblocking them too.

karvol vapouriser. About a fiver in chemist. Plug it in just before dd goes to bed. It works really well. Baby vapour rub on tummy and throat. Karvol drops on pillow. Bobs your uncle. Fannys your aunt! The karvol vapouriser is brill. Get someone to get one now! I always use a pillow btw.

We use a humidifie/steamer too, helps with breathing. Think it's made by the same company that makes Vick.

Dd 21 mths is v snotty at the mo and comfortably naps on a regular pillow. Not a massive puffy one - just normal.

Have also recently put a proper cotbed pillow in her cot and she loves it. Great success. Seems to help her know where to put her head and she does less wild wriggling so less of getting her head rammed into the bars.

G parents coming over tom and will see if they can get me a Karvol Vaporiser from Superdrug at airport. She sort of falls off her baby pillow and still ends upside down!! So will try a proper pillow. She does nap better in our bed propped up but at night she wants her cot !
Thanks for the ideas and will see if they can get me some Tixylix as well while they are there !
Its a bast**d virus high temp (we are on day 5 ) and all cold symptoms on full blast at the same time .

the big tesco do them my ds just has a normal pillow. Tbh medised worked best for me.

My fav combo is tonnes of vicks on their chest then a hankie/muslin somewhere out of reach with olbus oil on it. Also helps with coughs.

My ds is allergic to anti histamine so medised was never an option for us

For this age you can put a pillow under the mattress to raise that end up, works a treat and they don't get all hot burrowing into the pillow.
