Getting baby to sleep in heat tips

Hi

Looking for tips to get 6 week old baby to sleep in humid heat? After over 4 hours of crying last night and repeated wake ups every hour I'll try anything 🙃

In normal temperatures baby is swaddled and rocked to sleep then placed in next to me and tucked in under a small blanket.

It might be simpler to do everything you can to keep the room cool (or move to a cooler room if that's easier).

DD1 was a similar age when we had a heatwave and I have a picture of her finally asleep at 1am laid out like a starfish in the middle of our bed in just a nappy. She was normally in a swaddle bag but slept in just a nappy for those nights when it was really hot.

Don't let them go nappy only. Always use a cotton vest otherwise they get sweaty and heat rash, they need the cotton to wick away the moisture and that makes them more comfortable.

I know they are pricey but investing in an air con unit is the best thing we’ve done, or anything you can do that cools the room.
