11 months old -- too early for one nap?

My son is exactly 11 months old. He's been having two naps a day, one at 9 and then one after lunch. But sometimes he won't then be tired in the evening until gone 8pm.

We've tried giving him just the one nap as an experiment for a few days and it means he is instantly going off to sleep at 6.30/7pm after one long nap around midday.

Is 11 months really too early for one nap?

Mine has had just one nap since 10.5 months. Think it's about whatever works for your child.

Both of mine were ready to drop to just one nap (most days) between 10 and 11 months. I'd go for it and just be prepared to roll with it if occasionally he drops off at 10 in the morning and needs two.

Not too early, DS started having one long afternoon nap at around 6 months old. He would sleep for 3-4 hours in the afternoon and then go to bed at 8 til 8 the following morning

Mine started dropping to one nap at 8 months and was fully on just one by 10 months. I didn't influence him, I've always just put him down for naps when he seems tired and let him nap whenever he wants to.
