What time does your 4 year old bath, books, bed and sleep?

I'm interested in other 4 year olds bedtime routines, what time is tea times, bath time, book time, bedtime and what time do they fall asleep and wake up?

Have a 4 yo only child and curious what others do.

DS is 4, nearly 5. He doesn't have a bath every day, only a couple of times per week and we do it straight after school (I've got to do him and DD and she's got lots of hair to dry!).

We have dinner at 5:30pm, then start getting DS ready for bed at 7pm. He has a couple of stories downstairs (or a calm activity like colouring), then up about 7:20pm for teeth, two stories and then lights out for 7:30pm. He sleeps until 7am or so, comes in to us at 7:30am.

We did the same routine with DD, pretty much. Seems to work for us!

GiltEdges · 07/05/2023 19:27

dinner time - 6
bath time - 7:15
book time - 7:30
bedtime - 7:45
fall asleep - 8
wake up - 6:30-7

marshmallowsforbreakfast · 07/05/2023 19:29

Upstairs for bath at 6, 20 mins colouring or something until 6.40, stories and down for 7. Might sound early for some but he absolutely needs it and will wake up from 5.30 regardless.

mynameiscalypso · 07/05/2023 19:32

Mine is 4 in Aug. It's roughly dinner at 6/6.30 depending on whether it's a nursery day or not. He has a bath 3 times a week which is normally around 6.30/6.45. Downstairs for 7 and then some TV or playing or books or whatever. Up to bed around 7.30/7.45. Sometimes he falls asleep immediately and sometimes it takes up to an hour but he just entertains himself.

AlltheFs · 07/05/2023 19:37

Almost 4 years old

Nursery days-
Tea 4.30 (at nursery)
Snack 6.00 (at home)
Bath 6.30-6.45ish but it’s not always bath night
Stories about 7-7.30pm if it’s bath night (earlier if not)
Not usually asleep until 8.30 no matter what we do.
Wake up- she has to be woken most work days about 7am

Weekends and Mondays are similar but she eats later, about 6pm. She then sleeps about 8.30/9-8.30/9. She’s not a morning person! But she sleeps very well otherwise.

muuummypig · 07/05/2023 19:38

DD4, baths in morning as it fits our routine better. Brings stories to bed and has one or two, then watches tablet until she falls asleep, which is anywhere between 6:30 and 8 depending on how tired she is, and she is also currently in our bed as we cannot for the life of us get her into her own room yet. DD2.5 is exactly the same as the above but takes longer to settle down as she is a ball of energy. Both wake up around 7 or 730/8 on weekends

Totally against all the Mumsnet advice and routine, and might horror some that they have screen time before bed, but completely realistic and relatable to a lot of people I know IRL 😂 admire those who have bedtime sorted! Maybe one day that will be me, but for now I continue to dream of more room in the bed and less little feet kicking me in the back every.single.night 🙃

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/05/2023 19:39

Dinner at 5-5.30
Wash or bath at 6
Story and bed by half 6. She falls asleep as soon as she lies down.
She's always awake around half 5.

dinner time - 6
bath time - 7:15
book time - 7:30
bedtime - 7:45
fall asleep - 8
wake up - 6:30-7

Similar except on days when I don't want her to wake up early the next day. Then I push bath time/shower time back half an hour.

Ellemeg82 · 07/05/2023 19:50

Dinner 5/5.30
Bath/wash 6.50
In bed for 3-4 stories 7.10
Asleep by 7.30-45
Wakes up 7.30-45

We have the odd occasion where he wakes early at 6.30 or late at 8.30!
But generally he's a 12hr 7.30-7.30 kind of kid!

Tinybrother · 07/05/2023 19:52

Bath every other day or so, upstairs at 18.45 ish, asleep by 20.00. Awake at 5.30-6am (always has been)

Wiaa · 07/05/2023 19:55

My ds is 4 next week, dinner is somewhere between 430 and 530, bedtime starts at about 730 bath, teeth story bed. Usually asleep by 815 at the latest, wakes up 630- 7

Lovelydaytomorrow · 07/05/2023 20:03

4 next month.

Dinner at 5.30 straight after nursery.
Bit of playtime then gets pjs on and brushes teeth downstairs while watching TV, then up to bed around 7.00 for a story in bed.
Usually wakes around 7am, but stays in bed until his clock turns green at 7.45. Has just started getting himself up for a wee around 7.15 then back into bed until 7.45.

We don't ever do bath before bed as it does not work for us.

Fipfop · 07/05/2023 20:21

Tea at 4, 5.30 bath every other day, 6 supper, 6.30 stories, 7 bed. We do have an early tea but my daughter gets hangry otherwise!

Tinybrother · 07/05/2023 20:28

Mine has large snack after coming home from school/at after school club, then tea at 6pm ish with us.

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 07/05/2023 20:29

Dinner somewhere between 5:30 and 6:30
bath 3 times a week
bed 6:30-7 normally around 7 (later on swimming lessons night to fit bath and dinner in as well)
Awake 7-7:30

Hugasauras · 07/05/2023 20:30

We do dinner at around 5:30, then bath about 6:10 or so, into PJs etc in bed by around 6:30-6:45, stories and other bedtime bits and she's usually asleep some time shortly after 7. She gets up around 6:30-7 most days.

WeWereInParis · 07/05/2023 20:31

DD1 is 4 in a couple of weeks and we do dinner at 5:15/5:30 upstairs at 6:15ish, bath for DD2 (just turned one) which DD1 sometimes joins, sometimes she plays in her room with either DH or I after getting into her pyjamas.
DH or I will take a child each, DD1 will have a couple of stories at about 6:45, then is left at about 7pm. However at that point we leave her to it as long as she's quiet and stays in her room. She generally plays for anything from 5 mins to half an hour before getting into bed and falling asleep. She wakes around 6:30/7am but has a gro clock so stays in her room until 7.

moleeye · 07/05/2023 20:43

Mine was 4 in March. Shower every other day in winter but every day in summer.

Tea @ 5
Shower @ 6
Back downstairs for milk and a bit of tv for 10/15
Back upstairs: teeth, story and in bed for 6.30
Usually asleep by 6.35
Up at 6-6.15

Exactly the same for us. Plus we allow a bit of TV after dinner each evening. My eldest still seems to be tired most of the time though!
