Moving DS2 in with DS1. Please tell me won't all be up all night!

DS2 (nine months) is sleeping through again after a whole series of colds, teeth and chicken pox and I think now is the time to move him in with his brother. His brother (just 3) has never been a brilliant sleeper and seems to sleep quite lightly but is quite excited about sharing a room with his brother. Any tips for settling them in together?

I'm so excited about being able to read in bed again!

Gargh, that would be 'we won't be up all night'

I'm hoping to do the same thing, (same ages), after a similar series of chicken pox and tummy bugs stopping 'sleeping through', nervous as dc2 wakes much earlier than dc1, but dc1 clearly wants it to happen. Hope you get replies soon!

I moved ds2 4 months in with ds1 3 recently and it's been fine. ds2 wakes every 3-4 hrs for feeds and his crying does not wake ds1. ds1 had a cold and was up in the night recently coughing and made himself sick and ds2 slept through changing sheets and all the noise!

I do have a monitor next to me so i wake quickly to one of them but i've been pleasantly suprised. I was dreading it as well and thought i'd never sleep again!

Hope it works as well for you xx

So here's a report!

It's not been going very well. They have been alternating keeping me up since we moved them in together on saturday night. The first night DS1 kept waking up and coming through to our room or yelling. DS1 bless him, slept through most of it. The next night DS2 kept waking and would not go back to sleep unless I fed him. They have kept the pattern up but I am beginning to see a chink of hope that it will get better as last night it was DS2's turn to wake, which he did 4 times, but each time he settled back quickly with a little feed.

Still trying to work out how to do bed time though. DS1 has stories in bed before he goes to sleep, but DS2 is used to being put straight into the cot with the lights turned out. By the time we are finished with DS1, DS2 is too worked up to go peacefully off to sleep. I think I'll just have to wait for things to get better.
