letting baby sleep with muslin?

so my baby is a massive fidgeter and like many other babies, loves the comfort of a muslin since I've moved him from swaddle to sleep sack. I've never let him sleep with one without me being awake and next to him, but are things like comforters safe? we have little blanket comforters that aren't too long, and have a little animal head on them (soft). I know that guidance is an absolutely clear cot but I know a lot of people do this.

No I wouldn't. How old is baby? Since moving my 6mo into her own room I've put a comforter into her hand when I'm putting her down after feeding but I stay in the room until she falls asleep then take it out. It's not worth the risk for me.

he's nearly 7 months, and will still be in my room for a while

My DD took to a bib (of all things!) at around 8.5 months. I let her have it to fall asleep, then I’d remove it. Done this until she was just over a year I think.

I'd take it away. My DS is 7 months and I let him have his while I'm away but I watch the monitor and noticed him the other day with it wrapped around his head. Have me the fright of my life. Never again.

I let my DD sleep with a muslin at that age but I tied it in a tight knot in the middle so that it wasnt just one big bit of fabric that could go over her face if you see what I mean
