Toddler plays with my mole when tired

As the title says.
I have a mole bottom right hand side of my face and my DS "twiddles" with it when he's tired, at first I didn't mind so much as it helped him get to sleep. He will only fall asleep at night if I lay with him.
Lately he's been getting rough with it, like digging his nails into it like he's trying to pull it off!
And now I can't stand him even touching it, starting to really irritate me to be honest.

Does anyone else's LO do annoying stuff like this to get to sleep?
What can I distract him with to sleep? Teddies and toys make him want to play.

DD will only go to sleep if she's lifted up my top and is led on my stomach, now needs to be touching my stomach even upset in the day as well to calm her down, lifts my top up when we're out and just holds it

Drives me mad

Yes, and I've definitely heard of other toddlers doing the exact same thing! My toddler used to call it a nipple, and twiddled with it much the same as he did my actual nipples when feeding, (another very common toddler comfort thing). I know someone who actually got theirs removed because it annoyed them so much, and another who put a plaster over it. I invested in a toddler sized swaddle blanket for night time feeds and that worked brilliantly.

It's funny that when they're grown up, we'll probably miss these irritating little things lol
But I do wish he'd leave it alone, starting to consider getting it removed 😂

My first did this. My second needs a hand on my stomach like the second poster.
I had my moles removed (it was time anyway) but I wonder if covering with a plaster for a week could break the habit.

Haha yeah my DS used to like to twiddle my nipple when feeding, I think that's why he likes the feel of my mole now.

I think I will try covering it with a plaster, though I think he may just pull that off. He's a stubborn little mite

Yes my daughter definitely twiddled my nipples and also rubbed the top of my ear when she was going to sleep (not at the same time Grin).
My ear got sore in the end and I had to stop her doing it.

Oh god mine likes to stroke my boobs. She’s 3 and hasn’t BFed for nearly a year! Driving me round the bend.

QuiltedHippo · 23/02/2023 22:00

God I'm glad its not just me, dd is always fiddling with skin tags. I've put plasters over them before but didn't last long. I figure everything is a phase!

PlainJanePerfect · 23/02/2023 22:03

I'm going to sound like a monster but I never allowed twiddling or anything irksome even when he was tiny. He knows mommies boobies aren't for him. I BF until 16m and then it was like they ceased to exist.

As a result he is obsessed with cow boobies and papa boobies. 😬

ABlindAssassin · 24/02/2023 08:42

DS2 used to fiddle with a couple of skin tags I had on my upper chest. In the end he fiddled so much they came off 😬
He also used to like stroking my upper lip. I had to put a stop to that when I got a cold sore. He started stroking his own lip instead and still does it when he's poorly or upset (he's 10 now).

DS (9mths) likes to thumb the mole on my chest while he drops off and I refuse to allow it. So far I've been dealing with it by either wearing high neck tops, plasters or "swaddling" him while rocking him to sleep.

I keep trying to make an appointment to see the doctors to get it checked out and/or removed. But there's only so long I can hang around on the phone.
