My wonderful DS2 (1 week away from turning 8 months old)has always been the most chilled out baby he slept amazingly from the first few weeks of his life (would fall asleep as soon as he was put into crib, would sleep through sometimes waking for occasional bottle but always went straight back down and slept sound) he has always just been so laid back in nature until about 2 weeks ago his temperament has switched over night! He is fussy all day long, has mood swings one minute seems content and then boom he’s upset even though nappy is dry, has had sleep and tummy is full… he now also fights his sleep too he will be just about to drop off will realise and then get into a state of distress trying to fight it and then when finally goes to sleep he will wake in the night crying even after bottle will not settle back down easily at all this is all so out of the ordinary for him he also fussed on his bedtime bottle which he obviously wants but will almost feel like we are wrestling throughout the feed! He has had his first tooth cut through just and the second one next to it followed very shortly behind which has just cut too could it be this still causing him discomfort or is this typical for the age? I just want my happy baby back! Any one been though this and come out the other end was it just a phase? (I do have an older child my DS1 who is 6 years old I do not remember him doing this which is why I’m looking for some hope from others)

I'm going through the exact same with my 8 month old. Most chilled out baby, always slept, now doing everything you describe. I honestly think it's just development. Have an older one too.

Fingers crossed it’s just a phase! He hasn’t yet mastered sitting unassisted so I do wonder if that’s on the horizon and along with all the other things developing in their little brains! I’m just blooming exhausted every day at the moment feels like waking up for a day of battle!

I think at this age they are starting to get more mobile and interact with their environment which is very exciting and stimulating for them but can also be frustrating because they haven't got the coordination yet; they're starting to feed themselves which is super exciting and can also cause issues with digestion and puts them off the milk; the teeth are coming in; everything is a distraction because it's so interesting; they're finding their voices and separation anxiety is starting to kick in. It's an unholy combination but hopefully will settle!
