Yes, I know using my phone at 3am isn’t ideal but I’m desperate.

i haven’t slept through the night for six months. I look and feel dreadful.

Have you experienced this? I need to hear about sleep strategies that have worked!

Remove all clocks/phones from your room.

How does that work if one needs an alarm to know when to get out of bed & go to work?

That sleep restriction plan fills me will mild terror. It always sounds like the most perfect recipe to fill yourself with anxiety & dread that you're being a total failure. Basically, sleep torture too.

Mind you, I feel same about idea of only eating 600 kcal/day for 2 weeks (Human Being diet).

@LadyOfTheCanyon, I thought Mg Glycinate was the sleep-inducing form of Mg. Is it actually Taurate????

For me it's a bladder thing. I try not to drink before bed and find I don't sleep well because I'm not completely comfortable around midnight. I cross my legs, hoping I won't have to get up to pee and from then on, I sleep poorly. Wake up at midnight, go, you'll sleep well the rest (that's just me).

I think all magnesium knocks you out to a degree - I just chose one that also addresses my blood sugar!

It's been an absolute game changer for me. Previously I would go to bed and sleep 2 hours, then wake for 2 hours, sleep an hour and a half, wake 2 hours etc. I've always not slept brilliantly but menopause has really done a number on me.

Now I take the Mg before I go to bed, sleep about 5 hours, wake for 20 minutes, sleep another 2.5-3 hours.
The amount of energy and happiness I've felt as a result is amazing. I genuinely thought I was going mad at one point due to sleep deprivation

mmm.. I've been taking a single tablet, 187.5 mg of Mg oxide just before bed for > 2 weeks. This has had zero effect on my sleep pattern. I don't want to increase the dose bec apparently it can cause diarrhea.

I'll take Mg oxide for 2 more weeks, then try the next thing.

I bought some Mg biglycinate because apparently you can take huge doses of that without diarrhea effects. Like 1.6 g/day. Which is their recommended dose. Also some Valerian for after I use up the Mg bigly. I expect all of these to have zero effect on my sleep, of course. I'm just collecting data. I'm also immune to melatonin as far as I can tell.

Although I had a nap today. Which happens about twice a year. Maybe that's something.
