My Grandson is six month old and whilst sleeping pretty well during the night 7:30pm to 02:30 then back until 05:00. During the day he fights sleeps, to the point of maybe 45 minutes of scream/crying. Despite giving us all his sleeps clues of eye rubbing, hair twisting, red eyes and yawning. if he does go down he will wake up anywhere between 20 to thirty minutes clearly not ready to be awake but can't/won't go back to sleep and so the crying begins again. i don't have any experience this to help my daughter. Can anyone suggest anything?

If you are seeing all those sleep cues you are leaving it way too late to try and get him to nap. He’s overtired and thus fighting sleep.

You need to follow appropriate wake windows (2-3 hours) and have around 3 naps a day.

thank you, we have tried that, but when he has such short naps, you are seeing these cues all the time. so typically he wakes at 5, is tired by 7, sleeps for 30 minutes, wakes and then can't go back to sleep, this happens all day, which means by 4pm he is so very tired that he is incredibly grumpy.

again, thanks for your thoughts, we will keep in mind

What’s the daily routine like? How does she get try and baby to sleep?
