6 month old sleep is awful

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has been through/is going through the same thing. My 6 month old has started waking every 2 hours during the night which is killing me. Not sure whether it’s teething, a leap or reflux. Infant gaviscon hasn’t seemed to help really and neither did calpol.

My mental health is suffering and I feel sick with the fatigue. Partner takes over on weekends and early mornings, which is my only break from it as he drives for work. I wish I could nap during the day but I can’t.

Really considering sleep training as this just isn’t sustainable.

Thanks x

Sleep training was the best thing I ever did. My DS was the same as yours, waking constantly.
Sleep training allowed him to fall asleep by himself and actually stay asleep.

Now is the perfect time to do it, the process will be harder if you wait till he’s older.

I was terrified of doing it, but it wasn’t bad at all. The first night we did it he slept for a stretch of 6 hours, which for him was a miracle. And because he was waking less there was less crying than usual.

I really recommend reading Dr Ferber’s book. I remember downloading it on my phone and staying up most of the night reading it.

I always post on threads like these because I still remember all the kind people that posted on my thread and gave me the confidence to do it.

Went through this, sleep trained, now DC is 8.5 and sleeping 7pm-5/6am.

Sleep training is always demonised across several mums networks, but the ones that don't do it are usually posting asking for advice on how to get baby to sleep.

Good luck
