4.5month old - lack of routine and early awakenings.

My 4.5 month DD slept great until she was about 3.5 months old. Then she started regular night awakenings which have reduced a bit but still more than before, but now she wakes at 4-4.30 and wants to play!!

We start bedtime around 6.30, with bath, pj, story and then feeding to sleep. The feeding to sleep takes some time, up-to 1hr, and I think I’m being used as a dummy mostly. She won’t take a dummy though. She is breast fed and sleeps in a bedside cot. She will sleep in this at night once fed to sleep but not in the day.

The last few mornings she’s falling back asleep just before six, then up again about 8 and we feed then play on mat/some tummy time etc. the rest of the day can be quite disorganised as I can’t seem to make two days look the same but she has about three more 1 hour day naps. All on me, wakes up when put down. Sometimes she will sleep a bit in a nest but that’s it.

Any comments on optimising this are welcome but what I want to achieve and don’t know how to do it;

  1. Later morning awakenings - I suspect with better daily routine but I can’t do that either!
  2. I want to stop feeding to sleep, any tips on how to do this?
  3. Is it normal at this age that my days don’t look the same? I’ve got “ideal” days to aim for off google searches but I can’t seem to do it, mainly because the mornings recently are so early.

I’m finding the lack of sleep difficult but more so I can’t do anything as I’m either trying to play/tire her out or she’s asleep on me, I mean basics here like teeth brushing or making lunch! I’m ok at the minute but if this carries on I think I’ll struggle.
