16 month old sleeping 4/5 hours a night

Hi all,
My 16 month old started childminder 3 months ago and has been sick every week, without fail. She goes to childminder, as a result, on average, once a week. The illnesses aren’t always bad but it absolutely always results in little to no sleep ( many nights we both got no more than 1 hour) and for days maybe she gets 4 hours and me 2… not to mention I then have to keep her at home and try to work. We don’t have any support network ( relatives abroad / those near are detached ) and tried to find hired help but no luck. Only option is to remove her from childcare and get a full time nanny but I would keep that as last resort, as I really prefer childminder for social skills etc.

My question is .. is this normal and if so how does one cope? I am losing it slowly, have anxiety at thought of endless no sleep and don’t enjoy life anymore. I also worry how unhealthy this is for the little one. Any advice much appreciated x

We're similar here! My now 18 month old started a cm at 15 months and has been unwell since then. Bad nights, coughs etc. she's coughing again which is why I'm up.
There's a high rate of RSV doing the rounds at the moment and it is supposed to go on until January at least.
We have two primary school kids and used a nanny for them. We moved 300km away and it is hard to find a nanny, we've got no support as well. In your case if you can find a nanny I would, I'm falling sick with the lack of sleep.
