hello! my dd2 is 9mo if that's any use... and ours goes something like this:

anytime between 5.30 and 7.30am (usually about 6am) - breastfeed in bed

we then get up and hare around like loonies trying to get dd2 out and to school on time.

9.15 (back from school) breakfast

between 10 and 10.30 breasfeed (not a big one usually, sometimes falls asleep)

between 10.30 and 11.30 falls asleep for about 1hour, up to 1.5 hours.

wakes between 12 and 1pm

lunch together (blw)

2pm 7oz bottle (but can be anytime between 1.30 and 2.30 depending when she wakes from nap and when lunch is)

then the rest of the day is a total free for all... so, very loosely...

another nap sometime between 3 and 5, for about half an hour usually but varies wildly

snack of some kind, fruit or rice cake or bits of fluff from the floor when she wakes up

another breastfeed at some point between 4.30 and 6pm

some tea, if available, at some point, unless the earlier snack was a big one.

then it gets a bit more structured -

somewhere between 6.30 and 7pm - bath

somewhere between 7pm and 7.30p, - 7oz bottle

somewhere between 7.30 and 8.30pm - bed, usually after lying on our bed for a little while which makes her really sleepy. Sometimes falls asleep with bottle though

then she sleeps ok, doesn't seem to need to feed in the night anymore, but does wake sometimes for dummy/to have feet or arms removed from between bars or head jamming into top/bottom of cot...

hth

whats yours?

jellybelly25 · 01/02/2008 14:02

did you mean specifically bedtime routine? sorry if i've just told you our whole day completely unnecessarily...

3missys · 01/02/2008 14:09

lol! My 10.3 month DD2 goes to bed at 7pm - out like a light then wakes up approx 6-7am with perhaps a few seconds cry out about 5am but goes back to sleep.

She has a nap at 9.30am for approx 30 minutes and again at 1:30pm for approx 1-1.5hours.

waking up at 5am is still quite normal for your DD. I have a friend who's DS was born the same day as my DD and he has never slept through the night and still wakes up 3-4 times a night!

DS 10.5mths:

wakes anytime btw 5.15 and 7.45, usually around 6.15 (just started sleeping through regularly 8 days ago, touch wood )

has milk then breakfast around 7

usually falls asleep on the pre-school run, sleeps from 30mins to 2hrs, rice cake & water when he wakes

12ish - lunch with DD

Naps again anytime after 1pm (depends how long morning nap was) - for 1hr or 2hrs (ditto)

3pm ish - has bottle (just stopped breastfeeding)

5.15 - dinner with DD

6.30 ish - bath with DD

7-7.30 - milk then cot. And hopefully stays asleep til morning. Finally!

Even if he wakes at 5-5.30 we can usually leave him to mess around in his cot til 6am - he doesn't cry. I don't "do" mornings before 6am

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 01/02/2008 14:50

something like -

ds (9.5 m) wakes any time between 6 and 8, depending on the kind of night we've had

he has usually bfed (in bed with me) at 5 and 6 and sometimes 7-7:30

may play or may have some brekky which he never wants

may go for a nap immediately, or not until later

bf around 10:30-11:30

nap may be 1/2hr - 1.5hrs

lunch any time between 12 and 1, depending what time he woke up

another nap, usually 1/2hr, sometime in the afternoon, bf around 2:30ish

bf around 4:30

dinner around 6

bath
stories, singing, bed any time between 6:30 and 7:30, depending how much of a circus he puts on - sometimes with or without bf

writing it like this makes me think "routine" is far too generous a term

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 01/02/2008 14:53

oh forgot about nights

he may feed anything between once and three times during the night -

karen999 · 01/02/2008 14:58

My dd is 11 months. Her routine is;

7am Bottle
8am Breakfast (usually toast/fruit)
9am Sleep (45 mins)
10am Small bottle
12 Lunch
12-1 Sleep
2 Bottle
4 Sleep (30 mins)
5 Dinner
5.30 Bath
6.00 Bottle
6.30ish Bed

Till usually 6.30/7am next day...

Her routine has been like this for the last 2 months but will probably try and cut down on the bottles during the day in the next few weeks.

hayleybop · 01/02/2008 19:54

cool, it's good to see how other people are doing it.
amazonianwomen did he start sleeping through as soon as you stopped bf?
My Dd wakes sometimes 5-5-30 but has been teething so has woken up at 4.30 fed then back to sleep for an hour 1/2 then breaky at 8, nap at 9am sleeps for 45mins up to an 1 & 1/2 then apple water or rice cake 11 ish, lunch 12, nap 1pm, usually for 45 mins then water and snack then dinner at 5pm, bath at between 6.30 -7, bf then bed.
phew...

Mine is:

DS (9 months) wakes between 6-8. Trudge into his room, bf, nappy, put in contact lenses stare in horror at mirror

Downstairs cbeebies , 8-8.30 try and get him to eat breakfast

9am Sit on floor in pj's play with toys, call mum and moan

4hrs 30m from waking (10-11) bf then NAP TIME! Ds sleeps for 2 to 3 hrs. Mumsnet, eat toast, shower put on makeup despair at clothes

Up, then lunch about 12.30/1.30

Go out swimming/toddlers world/meet friend/babygroup

4ish back home, bf

5pm dinner, followed by bath, storymakers, bf, to bed by 7.

usually wakes for feed about midnight, maybe 3 too. depends on teeth. maybe every 2hrs if im really lucky!

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 01/02/2008 21:25

pmsl glitterkitty - though the funniness of your reply suggests you are LYING about how many times you're up in the night

oooggs · 01/02/2008 21:35

glitterkitty - we how are you and H getting on? - poo on over to the April postnatal thread we would love to catch up with you

anyway dts 10 mths
7.30am - awake, change & milk
8am - breakfast
9.30am sleep
12noon - lunch
1.30pm - sleep
4.30pm - tea
6.45pm - milk
7pm - asleep

now not to tempt fate but last night they both slept through , dd has done for a while but ds2 is a little bugger and I can be up in the night but it isn't for milk its to party/play

amazonianwoman · 02/02/2008 14:22

Hayleybop - don't think sleeping through and stopping bf are related. I stopped bfing properly just before Xmas, he's just had the occasional nibble since then. He had a few days a couple of weeks ago where he was out of sorts (no idea if teething, don't think so, don't even look for excuses anymore) and was up loads in the night crying. I fed him, cuddled him etc etc and ended up leaving him to cry a couple of times cos I didn't know what else to do (he was just getting more frustrated) - and he stopped after about 5 mins. Then just started sleeping through regularly. So I guess it could've been (unintentional) controlled crying - which I never thought I'd do cos hate the idea of it

MegBusset · 03/02/2008 12:31

DS is just 11mo, he has just dropped the morning nap so at the moment it's like this:

Awake 7ish - BF
8 Breakfast
10.30 Snack
11.30 Lunch
12.15 - 2ish Nap, then BF
3.30 Snack
5.15 Tea
6.30 BF
7 Bath then final BF
7.30 Asleep

Has been sleeping through since Dec when we did CC out of total desperation.

ShinySarah · 24/07/2009 19:20

Anybody else want to share?? It's good to know what everyone else is doing!!

IwishIcouldmoonwalk · 25/07/2009 06:34

Ours is a 5am waker too!

Awake 5am-5.30am (very occasionally 6am).
Cup of milk at 6am
Breakfast at 7am
Nap between 8 and 9, depending on when he woke, for about 45mins to an hour.
Cup of milk at 10am
Lunch at 12pm
Nap between 1 and 2pm for an hour.
Dinner at 5-5.30pm
Stories
Tickle, bath, one more story, asleep by 6.30pm...

I'm sure our early bedtime contributes to the early rising - not sure what to do about it though as he's knackered by that time! (see also the competitive early waking thread...)

IwishIcouldmoonwalk · 25/07/2009 06:37

MegBusset just out of interest - a really silly question - but how did you know that your lo was ready to drop the nap? Did he just start resisting it? I'm hoping that dropping the am nap will be a miracle cure for our 5am starts...

MaMattoo · 14/04/2011 21:02

My 10mo wakes up the birds as well. he sings and laughs aloud from his cot at about 5-5.45. this is how we have been doing it:
6.30-7am - milk
8.30 breakfast
9.30-10 nap
12. lunch
3 milk + nap
wake up 4-4.30ish
5.30 bath
6 dinner
7-8 bed time story, cuddle and sleep
11 milk - sometimes he has some sometimes not.

All sounds and works ok some days..though now the terrible teeth have thrown our routine out of the window. he slept after 7 am feed till 11.45am one day. did not sleep at all the other day. he sometimes is sunny and happy and sometimes spends all day yelling.

molejazz · 15/04/2011 23:08

It's so good to read how late your LOs have their naps! I'd been fretting about naps that happen as late as 3pm.

Ours is:

Wake 6.30ish
BF maybe, depending on when the last one was!
7.30 breakfast
9.30 Bf + nap (mostly has one), maybe later. 40 mins
Out somewhere
12 or 1pm Lunch
1.30 or 2pm Bf + nap. 40 mins - 1hr 20
Wake 3.30 ish
5.30 or 6pm dinner
7-8pm bath, story, bf, sleep

Then wakes lots till morning.

newbielisa · 16/04/2011 22:55

My DD 10 months this week is a bloody terrible sleeper but this is how my day looks
5:15 DD wakes up (in bed with me see confessional later on) BF and snooze as she plays the I'm in an eat all you can chinese buffet house, on off on off on off and sometimes (a lot of times when she's snoozy) forgets to open her mouth when she pulls off ouch.
6am - She's awake, DH takes her downstairs and I get 1.5 hrs uninterrupted sleep. He's in spare bed during the week re getting up for work.
7.45 - breakfast, generally porridge/eggy bread/toast followed by BF (last one till evening)
8:15/9:00 - Nap, either falls asleep on breast or out for a walk anything from 30 mins to 2 hours
11 - playtime or run round to get out of the house to go to a playgroup/meet friends etc
12 - lunch
anywhere between 1pm and 3pm Nap for anything between half an hour to an hour
5pm - Dinner
6:15 to 6:30 bathtime with Daddy
7:00 (as late as 8:15 some nights) Asleep
9pm She'll wake up, we settle her without getting her out of cot (no boobie for 4 hours at this stage trying to teach her)
11pm wakes up AGAIN - BF
1am WAKES again, Mummy, not so Yummy, stumbles in to nursey picks child up takes her to my bed climb in and the chinese buffet is open again for prob 2 hourly intervals.

I know I'm making things worse by taking her in with me and should repeat the settle without boobie as per beginning of night but I'm too damn tired (and refuse to take on board rod for my own back comments as I'm too tired to listen to them either Wink)!

prolificwillybreeder · 17/04/2011 10:23

I like newbielisa have a terrible sleeper and am consumed with guilt that it's my doing!
My 9 1/2 month old's routine is like this:
Wakes at half 6 but can often convince him to stay in bed with us until 7ish. He is in with us and has been since Xmas.
Drink of juice
8.30-9- brekkie of cereal and fruit
Then a bottle
9.45-10.30 I take him into his room and hold and sing to sleep
Naps for 30 mins to 1 hour.
Plays until...
Lunch of mushy food and fruit/yogurt at 12ish
Play/ bottle
Then get ready to go out for a walk/ town/ see people for half 1/ 2
Naps in buggy but will wake himself by 4 always.
Tea of mush, drink of water/ juice
Try and entertain him in highchair whilst cooking dinner during the witching hour 5-6.
Daddy home then it's bottle on for bedtime, bathtime, last feed in his room hold until asleepish.
Put down and shh-pat
He'll sleep from 7ish to 12 in his bed then if I have the energy(26 pg) will shh pat for as long as he will entertain it
4am in with us if not before.
Wakes at half 6.
Tea of mush

MatchsticksForMyEyes · 17/04/2011 10:33

DS's day goes like this

5.15-5.45ish wake and bf, goes back to sleep
6.30 wake, more bf
7.30 Breakfast
9.00 Nap, bf when put down
11.00 wake
11.45 Lunch
1.30 nap, more bf to be put down
3.30 Wake
4.00 dinner
5.30 porridge
5.45 bath
6.30 bf and bed

Although at the moment he seems to want to bf every 20 seconds. Has been great overnight since I sleep trained him 2 weeks ago, but horrendous last night for some reason Sad
