Gina Ford and wake times??

Hi all!

quick ques. about Gina Ford and her tips on waketimes?? I still am waiting to get the book and am just sorta winging it all right now

From what I have heard/read, it has been suggested to have ds go down 2hrs after he wakes from his nap. Does that include if he wakes from his nap early (still stuck in the middle of these horrid 30-45min naps! overtired mess!) and I leave him for his full nap time to continue to establish that schedule - but he stays awake the rest of his nap...do I count 2hrs from when he woke up to put him back down again? Or do I stick more to the clock times at this point since we have no schedule whatsoever right now??hope that makes sense! Thanks!

The schedule says baby must be awake at 7am regardless and should go down for nap at 9am. Every day was a little different as you are working toward sleeping through, so if my DS woke @ 5am I would feed him (just one boob hopefully) and he would usually wake again at 7 and I would give him the 2nd boob and try to get him back to sleep at 9am. You know what they say though about plans. You can't get too uptight if everything doesn't go perfectly to schedule every day.

thanks, girls!! I know just what you mean about the best laid plans! had my ds down again and SO hopeful for his nap at 12 - again...awoke 30min later! stuck in such a tough habit!
determined to break it!!!

When I was really desperate to get or keep him in the routine I would sometimes get my DH to take him for a drive for his afternoon nap to make sure he slept the right amount of time. Seems crazy now and I won't be able to do it for the 2nd I don't think.
