My sleep has gone weird, can't take care of daughter today

Ok so I don't normally suffer with my sleep pattern but the last week it's been quite weird

My evenings have been -
I fall asleep reading a book, wake up (it's probably 11.30/midnight) and put it away turn off the light and attempt to go back to sleep. I'm then wide awake until 5/6 am. Alarm goes off for school run at 7.30. I get back home from dropping DS at 8.50. I also have a two year old DD.

This week I have been crashing out in the day and today I can't even keep my eyes open to read to her or entertain her. Just trying to make her lunch just now took so much effort. I feel like I've been drugged (I haven't as it's just me and the kids at home as I'm a SP)

I'm very tearful with it all because tonight will probably be the same and I don't know why

Has anyone else experienced this?

You need to break the cycle. What time are you falling asleep with the book?

Don't go and read the book, force yourself to stay up a bit later and then go straight to sleep.

If I go up and read/ watch tv, I'll fall asleep at 930, wake up at 2 and then can't get back to sleep.

@AriettyHomily yes it's about 9/9.30 that I'm in bed reading. This has been my pattern for years though so wondering why now I can't seem to get back to sleep

But I will try your suggestion. Thank you
