(see threads passim re ds2 and (gasp) cc - he has slept 6:30pm - 5:40 the last 2 nights)

but for the last 4 nights ds1 has woken crying - he hasn't done this ever, iirc. nothing has calmed him other than the offer to go into the spare room with dh (rather than in with us, next to ds2's monitor - very noisy when i have to do cc at 5:40 or whenever)

dh away tonight

i have spent all day talking about the lollipop he will get tomorrow if he's a big boy and stays in his room all night

he's already woken once and whimpered for a minute or two before going quiet again

ideas? advice?

He may be feeling poorly - if it's out of character

How was last night? Just to sympathise. We have two DDs with a similar age gap to your DSs. DD2 is a rubbish sleeper, currently doing a bit better with tummy sleeping - partly inspired by you. (She's just under 6 mths and am postponing cc until she's eating better by day and - I hope - doesn't need night feeds.) But every time she has a better night - say only waking 3 times, DD1 is up in the middle of the night, as if to compensate. Last night, for instance, DD2 slept from 7 until 12 (hurray!) but DD1 - currently potty training and reluctant to poo on the potty was up just after we'd fallen asleep at 10.30 needing to poo, and then again later in the night. Am a rational, sceptical kind of person but it is going to start making me believe in some kind of malign infant telepathy if it carries on.

sympathies dotty

(and at tutter being "inspirational" - will make note in diary)

ds1 didn't wake again until 5:55, but no amount of chat-though-the-monitor about lolly rewards would convince him to stay in his room quietly, alone. so i ended up on the carpet next to his bed for 45 mins
