My 3 day old can roll onto her side- help!

My 3 day old sleeps in her own next-to-me style cot, in a sleep bag. I have adhered to all of the Lullaby Trust advice for safe sleep- but she can roll onto her side. We always put her asleep onto her back but she immediately stretches a leg and moves onto her side, complete with little hands under her head.

The cot is completely flat- I have used a spirit level to check. I didn’t think babies could do this so young and it’s making me panic :( We keep recorrecting her, but she just rolls back.

I don’t know what to do. When I google I just get unsafe advice about propping her up with rolled towels and blankets to keep her on her back, which I’m obviously not going to follow.

im Not sure this will be helpful , if she were mine I’d just leave her on her side . When my first 2 were born side sleeping was recommended as the safest . You could buy special wedges to put behind them to make sure they didn’t roll into their backs , and most people bought them. Obviously advice has changed since then but like I said if she was mine I would leave her on her side. What else are you going to do?!

I'm old enough to remember this too, we used to roll up towels to wedge them with.

Leave her to it, you can't do anything else . Congratulations 💐

Mine was fully rolling at 1o days🙄

No advice but good luck, 10 years later they are still a ball of energy who never sits still. I am exhausted😭

Just be careful not to swaddle her arms if she is rolling. Best to use a blanket which is secured under a mattress and won’t go over her face.

Will do this from tonight, thank you.

Went out for the 1st time in the pram today- she’s rolling and settling on her side in that too 😓

Can't you use a blanket under the mattress bit like in a cot? Mind you I wouldn't worry in her pram as you're there watching her.

This is really normal. They instinctively curl into the shape they were in in the womb, because that’s what their body is used to. I don’t think my LB lay on his back til about 10 weeks. Don’t swaddle, put her down on her back but if she curls up try not to worry. The guidance is put them on their back and not their front, definitely keep putting her on her back, but curled to her side is a natural position for her

Both of mine slept on their sides!

Mine slept on their sides facing me - good position to feed in the night too without having to get up.

I really wouldn't worry about this. Anything like swaddles, blankets or towels added to the cot to try to keep her in your preferred position would just add risk.
