Anybody else's child sleep as much as my 15mo DS?

DS will be 16mo next week. His current routine/sleeping pattern consists of;

Bedtime - between 7.30 and 8pm

Wakes up - between 9 and 10.15am (yes I get a lie in )

Afternoon nap - approx 2 hours

I'm not complaining as I am SAHM (and had 9m of sleepless nights) but I just wondered if anyone else had such a sleepy baby? I should add that he is contented little chap: he eats well and is very active (when he is awake!).

my 25 month old sleeps from 8 til 8 then has an hr and a half in the avo. she would sleep for longer in avo if i let her!

she is also extremely active when she is awake

enjoy!

mine wakes at 7.40am, she is nearly 21 months. I have to say that if i did not wake her she would probably sleep till 8.30 and for 3 hours during the afternoon, i only let her sleep about 2 hours! However when she was 16 months she woke up about 6.30am, so lucky you! enjoy it

Thanks for that np, don't get me wrong I'm not complaining by any means (more time for me, me, me ). I just wondered if it was normal.

we worry when we are normal, we worry when they are not........................................................

didnt think you were complaining at all

nailpolish · 23/11/2004 21:38

erm, that made no sense at all. sorry, suffering sleep deprivation just now

cellulitequeen · 23/11/2004 21:39

That is very true NP, since DS was born I have spent most of my time worrying about one thing and another; I definitely need to take a chill pill!

Sorry to hear about the sleep deprivation BTW np. If it's any consolation, I am sleeping like sh*t at the moment and am up at 6am most days, sometimes earlier. We can't win can we?

it makes me laugh sometimes - im pacing about with dd2 at 2am outside dd1's bedroom door and i can hear dd1 snoring above dd2's screaming! she has only woken up once - opened her bedroom door and said 'go to bed mummy' then climbed back in her bed and went to sleep! im dreading when i have to get her up for school

colditzmum · 23/11/2004 21:54

my 18mo son sleeps frm 7;45 at night until 9;30 the next morning, and often takes a two hour nap. Dont worry; if he's active, eating and reasonably cheerful he is probably fine!

Gobbledigook · 23/11/2004 21:57

DS2 (age 2) sleeps from 7.30 - 8am (would be longer but ds1 wakes a bit earlier and we have to be out to take him to playgroup) and then naps for at least 2 hours at lunchtime!!!! He'd sleep for 3 but I get him up or else we wouldn't ever go anywhere!!

navynic · 23/11/2004 21:57

my god- im green with envy at all these babies who let their parents sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time! whats the secret?

cellulitequeen · 25/11/2004 07:50

tiredmamma, how old is your baby? I think my DS sleeps so well because we follow a bedtime routine, use grobags and blackout lining and I always make sure his room isn't too hot, because that will always wake him up.
