My dd doesn't wake in the morning any more as nursery tires her out, so I can't rely on her as my alarm clock, and I must turn my alarm off and go back to sleep without realising as I keep waking up at 9am! From tomorrow it really matters as I have to get her to nursery for 8.30am-how do I get up? Any tips? Bowl of freezing cold water where I will put my feet perhaps? No dp around to kick me out of bed so it's all down to me!! I need your advice girlies and boys! xx

Put your alarm clock over the other side of the room - or even on the landing, and put it on loud.

That way you'll have to get out of bed to switch it off, and/or it might wake DD up and then she will wake you up.

If you are that tired that you need to sleep till 9 am, you really should be going to bed a LOT earlier

mummyvontummy · 13/01/2008 18:31

I've got to the point where I've set one in her room too! Hasn't worked yet though-heavy sleepers are us! Will try again tomorrow though! I don't go to bed that late-usually around midnight/1am four times a week, and eleven thirty the rest of the time, as I have essays to write once dd's in bed, and everything to get ready for morning.

That is late for getting up at 6.

Try going to bed at 10.30 for a few nights in a row - it's much easier to get up then. I don't often do it, but should do more often and enjoy it when I do. It's about being Very Organised.

CatIsSleepy · 13/01/2008 18:35

I get up at 6.20...and if I'm up much later than 10.30 or so am knackered the next day
midnight/1am sounds pretty late to me but I guess not much you can do if you have work to do...

set your mobile phone alarm as well??

mummyvontummy · 13/01/2008 18:54

Organised-am so petrified of that word! Am getting better slowly though -out with the "to do" lists and in with the "do it now" ones!!! Just need to cut down on the mn! DD has fallen asleep early today due to excessive bike riding, so 10.30 bedtime here I come!!

Go to bed at 10

hunkermunker · 13/01/2008 19:00

Organised is great. I feel serene when I'm organised. Serene is good. Enjoy going to bed early - it's great and I will do it more often

Surfermum · 13/01/2008 19:06

Say "I'd like to wake up at 7 am" (or whatever time it is you want) as you go to sleep. I have no idea how, but it works. For me anyway - don't blame me if it doesn't for you .

DoubleBluff · 13/01/2008 19:10

You deef need to go to bed ealrlier young lady. I use the alarm on my mobile as it is really annoying and I have to get up and turn it off.

inamuckingfuddle · 13/01/2008 19:16

I am in bed by 10 to be up at 6am, everything for wokr ready and in the car, DTs nursery bags likewise, breakfast ready, we are out of the house by 7.30 at the latest but it takes organisation and alot of nagging!

mummyvontummy · 13/01/2008 19:49

I have to ask dd to do everything 5 times, as she only does it quickly if I annoy her (bad mummy bad mummy bad mummy!). Everything organised for the morrow, now to wind down! Hunker-will check in with you this time next sun on a how did we do thread! Ha ha! xx
