Stair gate on toddler's door

I'm thinking of putting a gate in DD's doorway to help teach her to stay in her room at bedtime, in the night and until it's time to get up in the morning. She's 2y 10m. Please reply if you have any experience of this Smile

We did for our eldest when she went into a bed. I didn’t want her roaming the house while we were asleep. Not that she tried.
Why do you think it might be an issue? Seems common sense to me.

We did this when DD moved from cot to bed, as she was up and out of bed about a hundred times each night. We talked about it, she agreed, and it's totally fine, it really helped. She still has it there at 3.5 years although i don't think it's needed any more!
