Tempur mattress and bad sex

I’m really struggling to find a mattress that suits. We both really liked and ordered the Tempur memory foam.

However DH read online that sex on a Tempur mattress is terrible. (?????) Apparently you sink in too much…

So we cancelled that and went for a Flaxby medium. But it’s just too hard and I feel achey when I wake up.

i really want to swap it for a Tempur. But DH is adamant our sex lives will be impacted.

Has anyone got a Tempur?

I've read all latex type mattresses are not so good for sex .
If up to now the mattress you've had has been ok , then why not get like for like and away you go !

What about adding a memory foam topper over your new mattress?
I like a bit of give and bounce in my mattress, I don't like the solidity of a full memory foam when I've stayed in eg airbnbs. But I've never had sex on one!

A memory foam topper is a good shout.

@maybe unfortunately our last mattress was a mega cheapie that we bought online years ago.

Concerned that the Tempur will be rubbish for sex/ manoeuvring! But I think a comfy night sleep takes priority for me!

I did have a tempur and it did make sex tricky! You don't get any rebound... so you just sink in... in and in... and in..... if you see what I mean ! I also found it too hot (not during sex), hated it....

What? Why would a Tempur be bad for sex? I've had one for 15 years, it's sooo comfortable and you don't sink in at all.

There IS a period of adjustment while you get used to it though and they give you a 6 week guarantee so you get a refund , most of these type of beds do.

We have a Tempur and yes, you do sink in and sex is difficult! It's so comfy though!

Have sex on the sofa instead…..? I wouldn’t be buying a mattress based on whether it was good for sex or not. I spend far more time sleeping than having sex!

That should say it IS difficult, not sure why the 'not' was put there!

OP give your mattress a week or so to get used to it, the achiness is your back stretching out (according to the leaflet that came with Tempur) and it improves.

Itsnotraining · 16/05/2022 12:14

Ah thank you all. I’ll definitely give it another week.
Its such an expensive investment, I’m worried we have bought something too hard.

But equally I don’t want to trade it in for a Tempur (we have 30 night guarantee with dreams) if it’s going to make sex tricky 😂

I have a tempur mattress medium firm. It is luxurious and can’t see that it affecting what you want to do.

I love our tempur mattress... yeah you dont get any 'bounce back' from the bed when having sex as its not springy but I wouldnt let that ever stop me getting another Tempur, you get used to it and adjust. Dont even think about it now - were just used to it and sex in a different bed isnt any better

We have a Tempur memory foam, and find it actually better for sex as the movement is absorbed a bit, so much less noisy which I like as feel self conscious if there's too much rattling about - our walls are very thin! 😳
