Rolling baby won't settle to sleep unless breastfed :(

Hi all,

I have sleep trained my baby (never realized it would have been a never-ending process :/ ) and now at 7 m she decided it is fun to roll on her tummy when in bed (no matter how many times i turn her back). Problem is she doesn't know how to roll back on her back ( i am teaching her during the day) and hence gets stuck and screams her lungs out. It seems she can't get comfortable so won't sleep. She has fallen asleep a few times but that sleep was short :(.

The only way for her to sleep is to breastfeed to sleep which ruins the sleep training (she is back to waking every 1.5 hrs - i am going mad)

Any experience advice would be most welcome!

Thanks

That doesn't sound unusual for her age. Its full of teething, and regressions, and new development which plays havoc with their sleep.

Mine both went through the 'screaming because they can only roll over way' phase, but it passes.

I won't comment on the sleep training other than to say that it's something I wouldn't and didn't do. They get there in their own time eventually.

My DS had a phase like this. I had also done sleep training, so I used to just go in, turn him over and leave.

From memory I think after turning him over for the fifth time in a row one day I just left him. He cried for about 10 mins and then went to sleep on his front. He started to sleep on his front by choice then, even after he could turn back.

I can't comment to much but my soon to be 6month old recently started rolling. But can only roll back to front, he sometimes gets agitated at night when he rolls onto this tummy and can't turn back. I don't think there is much you can do other than resettle them.

Thank you both for your comments.

I turned her like 10 time today in 15 mins....no matter how much she doesn't like getting stuck she will still roll! Silly baby!

Hiya. My 4.5 month old is doing this. She rolls onto front in sleep then wakes up! This was happening every 10-20 minutes since 2am. She is too young to be sleep trained and I have to rock or nurse her back even though she's pretty good at settling herself on occasion. I slept 11pm-2am and that's it! Please tell me it gets better and any tips! Thanks
