14 week old never happy on awakening

My 14 week old is never happy when he wakes. This has been a constant since he was born. I don't wake up to cooing and smiles, rather screams and tears. Is this normal? He is a poor sleeper and doesn't nap longer than 15 minutes (I think this is due to silent reflux) and am wondering whether this is the case and he is just constantly exhausted. He is a very happy baby most of the time when he is awake, I just remember my son (now 15 so a long time ago) waking happy all of the time 😴

I have a 14 week old similar. 15 Minute naps are not restorative and sounds overtired. If my DD is overtired then I put her to sleep in sling and I will get at least an hour out of her
