Hi!

At the moment, our five month old has last feed at 6.30pm and falls asleep around half 7 (ish) and is downstairs with us (on lap). We then feed at 10 and falls straight asleep pretty much every night. I hold upright for a while and then put sleeping bag on and take her upstairs to her crib and I stay. I will put her in own room at six months with monitor so we will get evenings back to relax a little, do more tidying etc. Feel that don’t really have much of an evening at the moment though I do love the cuddles.

Was just wondering what your evenings looked like…

Thanks!

At 5 months I was either going to bed with my lo. The 4 month sleep regression hit us hard. Or I would pop lo to bed and keep running up and down checking on her while I scoffed my dinner then went to bed and read on my phone. My lo wouldn't stay asleep downstairs 😒 🙄

If your happy with that go with it.

Yep that sounds pretty much what we did at that age. Enjoy the snuggles. They sleep eventually on their own and you miss them …eventually 😂

We have just started implementing a proper routine with DD at 5months.
We were having our dinner about 7pm, feeding DD about 8pm and she would fall asleep on us and we would just take her up to bed when we went at about 10pm. We would do a nappy change and offer more milk before sleep.

Our new routine is now..
Feed around 5pm, playtime until 6.30pm. Dinner time for us at 7pm 7.30pm bath for DD, more milk, settle for sleep.
Put on baby monitor and chill downstairs.
She is still in our room in her next to me crib so when we go to bed its full SAS style with army crawling around the room in the dark so not to wake her!
But its working for us.
She transitioned really well.

I'm sure someone will tell me off and I'm aware this goes against advice, but both of mine were put to bed upstairs by three months. Both of them had very unsettled, colicky evenings which stopped as soon as I started putting them down for the night in a quiet bedroom at 7pm. Basic routine is a bath (not every night), pyjamas, feed, sleep.

I'd have preferred a snuggly evening on the sofa, especially with my second where I often feel like I've barely looked at him some days, but both have been so overtired by early evening that bedtime and silence was undoubtedly the best thing for them.

I think that if you've found something that works for you and your family, keep doing it! And enjoy the cuddles, they've got a long time of "proper" bedtimes.

Enjoy the cuddles. The house will still need tidying long after the cuddles are gone.

your routine sounds a lot like mine was at that age.

At five months (at five days too) it as upstairs about 6.30, bath, in sleepsuit and sleeping bag, story, last feed then down in cot while still awake if possible. Then lights out and I went back downstairs until 11ish when I'd give him a sleepy feed (lights still off). By five months that sleepy feed probably had been dropped. We had a sound monitor.
Baby never slept on our room, and I also never 'tip toed' around when baby napped during the day downstairs.

My grand baby is 5 months. She has a routine of bathing, feeding, story then into her cot in her own room. It seems to be working well.

Morning! My 5m just wants to be asleep on his own at bang on 7pm! It's so weird, something clicked a few weeks ago and if I'm holding him he's all agitated. He dropped his night feed recently too, just suddenly stopped waking for it.

He wakes from last nap around 4.45-5.15. Then we have some play time, let out some energy in the bouncer, bath at 6.15, dressed and bottle on sofa by 6.45 latest. He usually falls asleep on the bottle but if not, will be asleep by 7 after a quick cuddle. We then come down and eat our dinner which we have usually made earlier in the day.

The other day his last nap was 5.15 - 5.45 and he STILL fell asleep on the bottle at half 6!!! Bonkers.

I probably wouldn't listen to my routine though because he's up at 5am like clockwork!

My baby turned 5 months yesterday. In the last couple of days we have put her in her own room around 7/7:30pm where she will fall asleep. At 10 we do a nappy change and milk before putting her down again for the night, she falls asleep immediately. She then wakes up at 6am. This routine seems to work for us so far

We had a Moses basket downstairs so baby would go in there after their first evening feed so we could potter around, tidy up etc
with DCs2& 3 this was handy for us putting the older children to bed.
The last evening feed was upstairs and then straight into their crib.
